An Affordable or Cheap Wedding

If you are looking for an affordable or cheap wedding, these are some suggestions.

Keep your total guest list and wedding party to a limit of 50. Invite close family and friends only. The larger your guest list, the larger your expenses will be: food, drink, venue, decorations, etc.

For those in the Moore, Oklahoma City and Norman areas, you might consider holding the ceremony at the new Arbor Gardens Park in Moore, Oklahoma. There is a gazebo or pavilion next to a pond, a nice walkway and bridge, with further trails and bridges throughout the wooded 10.5 acres. A great place for wedding photos, spring thru fall. Rental and reservations of the park gazebo is $15. an hour for nonresidents. The first two hours are free for Moore residents. The location is 1500 SW 34th st. in Moore, 1 mile west of I-35.   To reserve, contact the Parks and Recreation Department offices at the Community Center at 301 S. Howard.

Contact Joy at to officiate. She lives close to the Arbor Gardens and could meet you at the park when you check out the location. There are no mileage costs as a part of her fees at this location and no charge for the initial interview meeting. See pricing on her website. Send Email to Joy

Reception: do you really need a full sit down dinner? If you were to use the above location for your ceremony, why not have an outdoor bbq or picnic? Everyone can bring his/her own chair or picnic blanket. If your family and friends include a number of children, the outdoor space provides flexibility. There are also restrooms near the parking area.

As you plan your wedding and search for affordable options, discuss what is important to the two of you. Are you wanting to make a big impression on family and friends by spending a lot of money? Does that indicate how much you love each other? No it doesn’t. Decide on an affordable budget for your wedding that reflects your values and stick to it.
